Naum Veqilharxhi
Naum Veqilharxhi was an important figure in the 19th century, known for his contributions to the Albanian language and culture. Born in 1797 in Veqilhar, he played a crucial role in the development of the modern Albanian alphabet, advocating for the use of the Latin script.
Veqilharxhi was also a writer and educator, promoting literacy and education among Albanians. His efforts laid the groundwork for the Albanian National Awakening, a movement that sought to preserve and promote Albanian identity and language during a time of foreign domination. He passed away in 1858, leaving a lasting legacy.
