National Resistance Movement
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) is a political organization in Uganda founded in 1981. It emerged as a rebel group led by Yoweri Museveni during the Ugandan Civil War, aiming to overthrow the then-government. The NRM advocates for a broad-based democracy and has been in power since 1986 after successfully capturing the capital, Kampala.
Under the NRM, Uganda has experienced significant economic growth and development initiatives. The movement promotes policies focused on poverty reduction, infrastructure development, and social services. The NRM has also been involved in various regional peacekeeping efforts and has played a role in addressing conflicts in the Great Lakes region.
