National Health Mission
The National Health Mission (NHM) is a government initiative in India aimed at improving healthcare access and outcomes for the population. Launched in 2013, it focuses on enhancing healthcare services, especially in rural and underserved areas, by strengthening health infrastructure and promoting community participation.
NHM encompasses two major programs: the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM). These programs work to provide essential healthcare services, reduce maternal and child mortality, and address communicable and non-communicable diseases, ensuring that quality healthcare is available to all citizens.
