Naskapi
The Naskapi are an Indigenous people primarily located in northern Quebec, Canada. They are part of the larger Innu group and traditionally inhabit the region around the Labrador Peninsula. The Naskapi have a rich cultural heritage, relying on hunting, fishing, and gathering for their subsistence, with a strong connection to the land.
The Naskapi language, also called Naskapi, is a dialect of Innu-aimun. Today, many Naskapi people live in the community of Kawawachikamach, which was established in the 1950s. The Naskapi continue to preserve their traditions while adapting to modern life, maintaining their identity and cultural practices.
