Narodnaya Volya
Narodnaya Volya, or "The People's Will," was a revolutionary political organization in Russia founded in 1879. It aimed to overthrow the autocratic rule of the Tsar and establish a democratic government. The group is best known for its use of terrorism, including the assassination of Tsar Alexander II in 1881, which marked a significant moment in Russian revolutionary history.
The organization believed that violent action was necessary to inspire the masses and incite a revolution. Despite its initial impact, Narodnaya Volya faced severe repression from the government, leading to its decline by the late 1880s. However, it influenced future revolutionary movements in Russia.
