Narasimhavarman I
Narasimhavarman I, also known as Mamalla, was a prominent king of the Pallava dynasty in southern India during the 7th century. He ruled from approximately 630 to 668 CE and is best known for his military conquests, particularly against the Chalukyas, which helped expand his kingdom and strengthen its influence in the region.
Under Narasimhavarman I's reign, the Pallavas made significant advancements in art and architecture. He is credited with the construction of several rock-cut temples, including the famous Shore Temple at Mahabalipuram, which showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of the time and reflects the cultural richness of the Pallava period.
