Nansen Passport
The Nansen Passport was an identity document created in 1922 by the League of Nations to help stateless refugees, particularly those displaced after World War I. Named after the Norwegian explorer and humanitarian Fridtjof Nansen, the passport aimed to provide legal recognition and facilitate travel for individuals who had lost their nationality.
This innovative document allowed refugees to cross borders and access basic services, such as education and employment. The Nansen Passport was widely accepted by many countries and helped over 450,000 people during its existence, highlighting the need for international cooperation in addressing refugee crises.
