Nadia Murad
Nadia Murad is a Yazidi human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate from Iraq. She gained international attention after surviving captivity by the terrorist group ISIS, which targeted the Yazidi community in 2014. Her experiences as a survivor of sexual violence and human trafficking have fueled her advocacy for victims of such atrocities.
In 2018, Murad was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize alongside Dr. Denis Mukwege for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. She co-founded the Nadia's Initiative organization, which aims to support survivors and promote peace and justice for marginalized communities.
