NGC 2140 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Lepus. It is approximately 70 million light-years away from Earth and is part of the Laniakea Supercluster.
Discovered by astronomer John Herschel in 1834, NGC 2140 has a visual magnitude of about 13.5, making it faint and challenging to observe without a telescope. The galaxy exhibits features typical of barred spirals, including a central bar structure and spiral arms that extend outward.
