NGC 6254
NGC 6254 is a globular cluster located in the constellation Scorpius. It is approximately 20,000 light-years away from Earth and is part of our Milky Way galaxy. This cluster contains hundreds of thousands of stars, tightly packed together due to their mutual gravitational attraction.
Discovered by William Herschel in 1784, NGC 6254 is also known as M4. It is one of the closest globular clusters to Earth, making it a popular target for amateur astronomers. The cluster is notable for its relatively low metallicity, which provides insights into the early formation of stars in the universe.
