NGC 2103
NGC 2103 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Doradus. It is situated approximately 50,000 light-years away from Earth and is part of the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. The cluster contains several young, bright stars and is estimated to be around 100 million years old.
Discovered by John Herschel in 1834, NGC 2103 is notable for its relatively high concentration of stars within a small area. Observations of this cluster help astronomers understand the formation and evolution of star clusters in different environments, particularly in irregular galaxies like the Large Magellanic Cloud.
