NGC 2102
NGC 2102 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Lepus. It is approximately 1,500 light-years away from Earth and is part of the Milky Way galaxy. The cluster contains several young stars that are still in the process of forming, making it an interesting object for astronomers studying stellar evolution.
Discovered by John Herschel in 1834, NGC 2102 is relatively small and contains a few dozen stars. Its age is estimated to be around 10 million years, which is quite young in astronomical terms. Observations of this cluster help scientists understand the dynamics and characteristics of star formation in similar regions of the galaxy.
