NGC 2100
NGC 2100 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Doradus. It is situated approximately 50,000 light-years away from Earth and is part of the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. The cluster contains several young, bright stars and is known for its rich stellar population.
Discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834, NGC 2100 is notable for its relatively high concentration of massive stars. The cluster is also a site of ongoing star formation, making it an interesting object for astronomers studying the life cycles of stars and the dynamics of star clusters.
