NGC 1040
NGC 1040 is a bright open cluster located in the constellation of Tucana. It is approximately 4,500 light-years away from Earth and is known for its rich population of stars. The cluster is estimated to contain around 100 stars, many of which are young and hot.
Discovered by John Herschel in 1834, NGC 1040 is often studied for its stellar dynamics and evolution. The cluster's stars are relatively close together, making it an interesting target for astronomers examining the formation and life cycles of stars in open clusters.
