Myoglobinuria
Myoglobinuria is a medical condition characterized by the presence of myoglobin in the urine. Myoglobin is a protein found in muscle tissue that helps store and transport oxygen. When muscle cells are damaged, myoglobin is released into the bloodstream and can be filtered by the kidneys, leading to its appearance in urine. This condition often occurs after intense exercise, muscle injury, or certain medical conditions.
Symptoms of myoglobinuria may include dark, reddish-brown urine, muscle pain, and weakness. It can be diagnosed through urine tests that detect myoglobin levels. If left untreated, myoglobinuria can lead to complications such as acute kidney injury, making prompt medical attention important.
