Mustafa Akıncı is a Turkish Cypriot politician who served as the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) from 2015 to 2020. He was born on July 28, 1947, in Larnaca, Cyprus. Akıncı is known for his moderate stance and efforts to promote peace and reunification between the Greek and Turkish communities on the island. Before his presidency, Akıncı was the mayor of Nicosia and a member of the Republican Turkish Party. He has been involved in various negotiations aimed at resolving the long-standing division of Cyprus, advocating for a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation as a solution to the conflict.
