Murrawarri Nation
The Murrawarri Nation is an Indigenous Australian group located in the northwestern region of New South Wales. They have a rich cultural heritage and a deep connection to their ancestral lands, which include parts of the Darling River and surrounding areas. The Murrawarri people have their own distinct language, traditions, and customs that have been passed down through generations.
In 2016, the Murrawarri Nation declared itself a sovereign nation, asserting their rights to self-determination and governance. This declaration aims to promote their cultural identity and protect their land from external pressures, such as mining and agriculture. The Murrawarri Nation continues to advocate for recognition and respect for their rights as Indigenous Australians.
