Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr
Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr was an influential Iraqi Shia cleric, philosopher, and political activist born in 1935. He is best known for his contributions to Islamic thought and his role in the development of Islamic economics. Al-Sadr authored several important works, including "Iqtisaduna," which discusses economic principles from an Islamic perspective.
In addition to his scholarly work, al-Sadr was a prominent figure in the Shia community and opposed the Ba'athist regime in Iraq. His activism led to his arrest and execution in 1980, making him a martyr and a symbol of resistance for many Shia Muslims in Iraq and beyond.
