Mouvement National Congolais
The Mouvement National Congolais (MNC) was a political party founded in 1958 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It played a crucial role in the country's struggle for independence from Belgian colonial rule. The MNC was led by Patrice Lumumba, who became a prominent figure in the fight for Congolese self-determination.
The party aimed to unite various ethnic groups and promote national identity. After the Congo gained independence in 1960, the MNC faced internal divisions and political challenges, leading to Lumumba's eventual assassination in 1961. Despite its tumultuous history, the MNC remains significant in the narrative of Congolese nationalism.
