Mountains of Africa
Africa is home to some of the world's most famous mountain ranges, including the Atlas Mountains in North Africa and the Drakensberg in Southern Africa. The continent's highest peak is Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano in Tanzania that rises about 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. These mountains are known for their diverse ecosystems, ranging from tropical forests to alpine tundra.
In addition to their natural beauty, Africa's mountains have significant cultural and historical importance. The Ras Dashen in Ethiopia is the highest peak in the Simien Mountains, while the Rift Valley is home to unique geological formations. Many indigenous communities live in these mountainous regions, relying on the land for their livelihoods.
