Mount Meron
Mount Meron is the highest peak in northern Israel, standing at 1,208 meters (3,963 feet) above sea level. It is part of the Meron mountain range and is known for its diverse flora and fauna, making it a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The area is also rich in historical and archaeological significance.
The mountain is home to the Meron National Park, which features scenic trails and picnic areas. Additionally, Mount Meron is a site of religious importance, particularly for Jewish pilgrims who visit the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, especially during the holiday of Lag BaOmer.
