Moro reflex
The Moro reflex is an involuntary response seen in newborns, typically present from birth until about 4 to 6 months of age. It occurs when a baby feels a sudden loss of support, such as when they are startled by a loud noise or a sudden movement. The reflex involves the baby spreading their arms and legs, then quickly bringing them back to the center of their body, often accompanied by crying.
This reflex is considered a sign of healthy neurological development. It helps to assess the functioning of the nervous system in infants. If the Moro reflex persists beyond the typical age range, it may indicate potential developmental issues that require further evaluation.
