Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF)
The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) is a political organization in the Philippines that aims to achieve autonomy for the Muslim population in the southern region, particularly in the area known as Bangsamoro. Founded in 1972, the MNLF has sought to address issues of social justice, self-determination, and cultural identity for the Moro people, who are predominantly Muslim.
In 1996, the MNLF signed a peace agreement with the Philippine government, which led to the establishment of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). However, challenges remain, and the MNLF continues to advocate for the rights and welfare of the Moro people, often collaborating with other groups like the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to further their goals.
