Mon People
The Mon people are an ethnic group primarily found in Myanmar and Thailand. They are one of the oldest ethnic groups in Southeast Asia, with a rich history that dates back over a thousand years. The Mon language belongs to the Mon-Khmer branch of the Austroasiatic language family, and the Mon culture is known for its unique traditions, art, and architecture.
Historically, the Mon established powerful kingdoms, such as the Mon Kingdom of Dvaravati and the Hanthawaddy Kingdom. They are predominantly Buddhists, and their festivals often reflect their religious beliefs. The Mon people continue to maintain their cultural identity despite the influences of surrounding cultures.
