Mission Santa Clara de Asís
Mission Santa Clara de Asís is one of the original 21 California missions, founded on January 12, 1777, by Franciscan missionary Junípero Serra. Located in Santa Clara, it was named after Saint Clare of Assisi and served as a center for the local Ohlone people, promoting agriculture and Christianity.
The mission has undergone several reconstructions due to earthquakes and other damages. Today, it is part of the Santa Clara University campus and features a beautiful church and gardens, attracting visitors interested in California's history and the mission system.
