Mission Santa Barbara
Mission Santa Barbara is one of the 21 California missions founded by Spanish Franciscan missionaries. Established in 1786, it is located in Santa Barbara, California, and is often referred to as the "Queen of the Missions" due to its beautiful architecture and well-preserved grounds. The mission was named after Saint Barbara, the patron saint of artillerymen.
The mission served as a religious and cultural center for the local Chumash people and played a significant role in the spread of Christianity in the region. Today, Mission Santa Barbara is an active parish and a popular tourist destination, showcasing its historic church, museum, and gardens.
