Mishing People
The Mishing people are an indigenous ethnic group primarily found in the northeastern region of India, particularly in the state of Assam. They are known for their unique culture, language, and traditions, which are distinct from other communities in the area. The Mishing language belongs to the Tibeto-Burman family, and their traditional lifestyle is closely linked to agriculture, fishing, and weaving.
Mishing society is organized into clans, and they celebrate various festivals that reflect their rich cultural heritage. One of the most important festivals is Ali-Aye-Ligang, which marks the beginning of the agricultural season. The Mishing people are also known for their vibrant handicrafts, especially their traditional textiles and bamboo products.
