Miracle on the Hudson
On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549, piloted by Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, experienced a dual engine failure shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport in New York City. The plane struck a flock of geese, leading to an emergency landing situation. Sullenberger successfully landed the Airbus A320 on the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 passengers and crew members on board.
The incident became known as the "Miracle on the Hudson" due to the successful ditching and the quick response of rescue teams. Passengers were evacuated onto the wings of the aircraft, and nearby boats assisted in their rescue. The event highlighted the importance of pilot training and emergency preparedness in aviation.
