Milton Obote
Milton Obote was a Ugandan politician who served as the Prime Minister from 1962 to 1966 and later as President from 1966 to 1971. He played a significant role in Uganda's independence from British colonial rule in 1962. Obote's government focused on nationalization and social reforms, but his leadership was also marked by political repression and conflict.
In 1971, Obote was overthrown in a military coup led by Idi Amin, who then took control of the country. After years in exile, Obote returned to Uganda in 1980 and was elected president again, but his second term was short-lived due to ongoing civil unrest.
