Metropolitan Division
The Metropolitan Division is one of the four divisions in the National Hockey League's (NHL) Eastern Conference. It consists of eight teams, including the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Carolina Hurricanes. The division was established in 2013 as part of the NHL's realignment.
Teams in the Metropolitan Division compete for playoff spots each season, with the top teams advancing to the Stanley Cup playoffs. The division is known for its competitive nature and features several historic rivalries, particularly between the Rangers and Islanders as well as the Penguins and Capitals.
