Metellus Pius
Metellus Pius was a Roman general and politician who lived during the late Roman Republic. He was born around 130 BC and belonged to the Metelli family, a prominent patrician lineage. He is best known for his role in the Social War (91-88 BC), where he fought against the Italian allies of Rome who sought citizenship rights.
In addition to his military career, Metellus Pius served as a consul in 80 BC. He was a supporter of the Senate and opposed the populist reforms of leaders like Gaius Marius. His legacy includes his contributions to Roman military campaigns and his influence in the political landscape of his time.
