Metatarsals
The metatarsals are five long bones located in the middle part of the foot. They connect the phalanges, or toe bones, to the tarsal bones, which are found in the back of the foot. Each metatarsal is numbered from one to five, starting with the big toe. These bones play a crucial role in supporting body weight and enabling movement.
Metatarsals are essential for activities like walking, running, and jumping. They help maintain balance and provide stability to the foot. Injuries to the metatarsals, such as fractures, can lead to pain and difficulty in mobility, highlighting their importance in everyday activities.
