Messier 38
Messier 38, also known as NGC 1912, is an open star cluster located in the constellation of Auriga. It was discovered by the astronomer Giovanni Battista Hodierna in the 17th century and later cataloged by Charles Messier in 1764. The cluster is approximately 4,200 light-years away from Earth and contains around 100 stars.
The stars in Messier 38 are relatively young, with an estimated age of about 220 million years. The cluster is best observed in the winter months and is visible with binoculars or small telescopes. Its bright stars and loose structure make it an interesting target for amateur astronomers.
