Messier 36
Messier 36, also known as M36, is an open star cluster located in the constellation Auriga. It was discovered by the French astronomer Charles Messier in 1764. The cluster contains around 60 stars and is approximately 4.1 million years old, making it relatively young in astronomical terms.
M36 is situated about 4,100 light-years away from Earth. It spans roughly 15 light-years in diameter and is best observed with binoculars or small telescopes. The cluster is part of a larger group of open clusters in the region, including Messier 37 and Messier 38.
