Merapi Volcano Complex
The Merapi Volcano Complex is an active volcanic region located on the island of Java, Indonesia. It is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, with frequent eruptions recorded throughout history. The complex includes several craters and lava domes, with the main summit reaching an elevation of 2,930 meters (9,616 feet).
The volcano is part of the Ring of Fire, a zone known for its seismic activity. Surrounding communities are often at risk due to its eruptions, which can produce pyroclastic flows and ashfall. Monitoring efforts are in place to ensure the safety of residents living near the Merapi area.
