Melotte 15
Melotte 15 is an open star cluster located in the Cassiopeia constellation. It is part of the larger Heart Nebula (IC 1805) and is approximately 6,000 light-years away from Earth. The cluster contains several young, hot stars that are still in the process of forming, making it an interesting area for astronomers to study stellar evolution.
The cluster is estimated to be around 1.5 million years old and contains about 30 stars. These stars are significantly brighter than the Sun and contribute to the illumination of the surrounding nebula. Melotte 15 is often observed using telescopes to explore its unique characteristics and the dynamics of star formation.
