Melon Varieties
There are many types of melon varieties, each with unique flavors and textures. Common types include watermelon, known for its juicy, sweet flesh and high water content, and cantaloupe, which has a netted skin and orange, fragrant interior. Other popular varieties include honeydew, with its smooth, pale green skin and sweet taste, and Galia, a hybrid that combines the characteristics of cantaloupe and honeydew.
Melons are typically categorized into two main groups: winter melons and summer melons. Winter melons, like Chinese winter melon, are harvested later in the season and have a longer shelf life. Summer melons, such as sugar melon, are enjoyed fresh and are often sweeter, making them popular for summer picnics and desserts.
