Megabats
Megabats, also known as flying foxes, are large fruit-eating bats belonging to the family Pteropodidae. They are primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Australia. Megabats have excellent eyesight and rely on their keen sense of smell to locate ripe fruits and flowers, which make up the majority of their diet.
Unlike smaller bats, megabats do not use echolocation. Instead, they navigate using their vision and sense of smell. These bats play a crucial role in their ecosystems by pollinating flowers and dispersing seeds, which helps maintain the health of forests and other habitats.
