Medical Council of India
The Medical Council of India (MCI) was a statutory body responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards in medical education and practice in India. It played a crucial role in regulating medical colleges, granting recognition to medical degrees, and ensuring that medical professionals adhered to ethical practices.
In 2020, the MCI was replaced by the National Medical Commission (NMC) to enhance the quality of medical education and improve healthcare delivery in the country. The NMC aims to streamline the regulatory framework and address the challenges faced by the medical profession in India, ensuring better healthcare for all citizens.
