Mealworms
Mealworms are the larval stage of the darkling beetle, scientifically known as Tenebrio molitor. They are small, cylindrical, and typically yellowish-brown in color. Mealworms are commonly found in decaying organic matter and are often used as a food source for pets, such as birds and reptiles, as well as in animal feed.
In addition to their role in animal nutrition, mealworms are gaining attention as a sustainable protein source for humans. They are rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals, making them a nutritious option. Mealworms can be consumed in various forms, including whole, roasted, or as flour in baked goods.
