Matabele Wars
The Matabele Wars were two conflicts that took place in the late 19th century between the British South Africa Company and the Ndebele people, led by their king, Lobengula. The first war occurred in 1888, primarily over land and resources, while the second war happened in 1896, fueled by rising tensions and resistance against colonial rule.
These wars were significant in shaping the history of Zimbabwe, as they marked the beginning of British colonial dominance in the region. The conflicts resulted in the defeat of the Ndebele forces and the establishment of British control, leading to significant changes in the social and political landscape of the area.
