Lobengula
Lobengula was the last king of the Ndebele people in present-day Zimbabwe. He ruled from 1870 until his death in 1894 and was known for his resistance against colonial encroachment. His reign was marked by conflicts with European powers, particularly the British South Africa Company, which sought to expand its influence in the region.
Under Lobengula's leadership, the Ndebele faced significant challenges, including the First Matabele War in 1893. Despite his efforts to maintain independence, Lobengula's kingdom ultimately fell to colonial forces, leading to the establishment of British control over the area. His legacy remains significant in the history of Zimbabwe.
