Mary of Anjou
Mary of Anjou was a French princess born in 1404, the daughter of Charles II of Anjou and Marie of Blois. She became the Queen of Scotland by marrying James I of Scotland in 1424, strengthening ties between France and Scotland during a time of political unrest.
As queen, Mary played a significant role in the cultural and political life of Scotland. She was known for her piety and support of the arts. After her husband's assassination in 1437, she returned to France, where she continued to influence Scottish affairs through her family connections.
