Maria Teresa of Braganza
Maria Teresa of Braganza was a Portuguese princess born on April 6, 1793. She was the daughter of King John VI of Portugal and Queen Carlota Joaquina. In 1810, she married Prince Miguel of Portugal, who later became King Miguel I. Their union was politically significant, as it aimed to strengthen the Braganza dynasty.
Maria Teresa played a crucial role during a turbulent period in Portuguese history. After her husband's ascension to the throne, she became embroiled in the conflicts between liberal and conservative factions. Her life was marked by political strife, and she ultimately lived in exile after her husband's defeat in 1834.
