Margherita Sarfatti
Margherita Sarfatti (1880-1961) was an influential Italian art critic, journalist, and writer. She is best known for her close relationship with the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, which helped her gain prominence in the cultural scene of early 20th-century Italy. Sarfatti played a significant role in promoting the Novecento Italiano movement, which aimed to revive classical art forms in modern Italy.
In addition to her work as a critic, Sarfatti authored several books, including a biography of Mussolini. Her writings often reflected her views on art and politics, and she was a key figure in shaping public opinion about the cultural policies of the Fascist regime. Despite her contributions, her legacy remains complex due to her association with Fascism.
