Margaret of Wessex
Margaret of Wessex was a Scottish princess born in 1045, known for her piety and charitable works. She was the daughter of Edward the Exile, a member of the English royal family, and Agatha, a Hungarian princess. After fleeing to Scotland, she married Malcolm III, the King of Scotland, and became Queen.
As queen, Margaret played a significant role in the religious and cultural life of Scotland. She was instrumental in reforming the church and promoting education. Her efforts to strengthen ties with England and her dedication to the poor earned her a reputation as a saint, leading to her canonization in 1250.
