Marco Polo sheep
The Marco Polo sheep is a large wild sheep species found in the mountainous regions of Central Asia, particularly in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China. Known for their impressive curved horns, which can grow up to 1.5 meters long, these sheep are well-adapted to rugged terrains and high altitudes.
Marco Polo sheep primarily inhabit alpine meadows and rocky slopes, where they graze on grasses and shrubs. They are social animals, often found in herds, and are known for their agility and ability to navigate steep landscapes. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their populations from habitat loss and hunting.
