María Ana of Austria
María Ana of Austria was a Spanish princess born on November 18, 1606. She was the daughter of Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor and Maria Anna of Bavaria. In 1634, she married King Philip IV of Spain, becoming the queen consort of Spain. Her marriage was part of a political alliance between the Habsburgs and the Spanish crown.
As queen, María Ana played a significant role in the royal court and was known for her patronage of the arts. She had several children, including Balthasar Carlos, who was the heir to the Spanish throne. María Ana passed away on May 16, 1646.
