Manuel de Godoy
Manuel de Godoy was a Spanish statesman who served as Prime Minister of Spain from 1792 to 1797. Born in 1767, he rose to power during the reign of King Charles IV and became a key figure in Spanish politics. Godoy was known for his ambitious reforms and efforts to modernize Spain, but his leadership was often criticized.
Despite his initial popularity, Godoy faced significant opposition and was blamed for Spain's military failures during the Napoleonic Wars. In 1808, he was forced to resign and went into exile. His legacy remains controversial, reflecting the complexities of his time in office.
