King Charles IV
King Charles IV was a significant monarch of the Holy Roman Empire who reigned from 1347 to 1378. Born in 1316, he was a member of the Luxembourg dynasty and is best known for his efforts to strengthen the empire and promote peace among its various territories. He also established Prague as a cultural and political center.
During his reign, Charles IV issued the Golden Bull of 1356, which laid down important constitutional rules for the election of the emperor. His reign is often regarded as a high point in medieval European history, marked by economic prosperity and cultural flourishing.
